Malaysia and Singapore

After Kuala Lumpur (or as everyone here calls it, KL) we headed to Melaka/Malacca which is on the West coast of Malaysia. Hindu, Muslum, Buddist, Christian...you name it and they've got a temple for it (complete with bells/gongs/speaker towers, and they aren't afraid to use them). We were there for some Chinese festival and saw the largest incense stick of all time. It was like a tree!

The food in Malaysia is amazing. Most cities we've been to have a china town and an india town so there is almost too much choice with Malaysian food also. We accidently had a Malaysia Fondue in Malaka. They sat us at a metal table and it had the centre cut out to put a big pot of bubbling satay sauce in which you then dunked your skewered bits and bobs in. The 70's are still thriving in west coast Malaysia.

We headed to Singapore which has been raining on and off while we've been here and when it's on, it's seriously on! We're currently hiding from it in an Internet cafe. I got a Japanese hair cut in Singapore...not exactly sure how that happened to work out but it was very hygenic as the guy kept telling me. So much so that he let me keep the comb at the end of it even though I didn't want it. To finish it off he 'Air Washed' my hair which turns out means vacuuming your head for a few minutes before punting you out the door. I had flowbee infomercial flashbacks.

We went to the cinema to watch an appauling film called Outlander and managed to get halfway through it before we had to walk out...last time I go see a film without watching the trailer first. After our cinema experience we decided to go for something with a bit more culture and went to the Asian Civilisations Museum which was really cool. After that we had some chineese food from a random street hawker. Becky lucked out and got a free band aid in her's...Yummy. Singapore is a very cool city and we could have loads of fun here but it's also crazy expensive so we're glad to be leaving.

Next stop...India!

PS: That hostel in Penang wasn't that bad. It had character!
