Dad´s house

After our epic journey to Flores we got up at 02.30 to head to Tikal for sunrise. As it happens, we really lucked out because it was the last day they were doing the sunrise tour as it was being shutdown because of beureacy...whatever that meant. I´m really glad we did it, we climbed up to to the top of one of the temples and watched the ´sunrise´. It was awesome, we sat there listening to the sound of the rain forest and the howler monkeys chatting to each other. Because we got there at silly o´clock we pretty much had the entire site to ourselves...maybe about 30 people in it tops, as the coaches started to turn up we decided to leave.

We´re now in Rio Dulce and stayed in an amazing hostel that was actually on the water. The only way to it was via lancha. We chilled out there last night. It turns out that hammocks require skill and dedication to master and I´m slowly getting there. My exits are still less elegant that I´d like but I´m commited to perfecting my technique. We went about 200m past where my dad and Cathy keep their boat which was very cool, unfortunately he´s still in Canada at the moment so we didn´t pop in to see them.

We´re going to take a two hour boat cruise to Livingston in half an hour which is on the caribbean coast. It´s supposed to be more garifuna than latin american so that should be interesting. After that it´s Hondurus or bust!
