Bay Islands

The hour'ish long boat journey from Rio Dulce to Livingston was amazing. I've never seen anything that green. Everything was green from the cliffs to the water. I mostly passed the time by poking Becky and pointing at every coconut tree I saw, saying loco-nut in a very bad Indian/Welsh accent. They boat was pretty full so she couldn't escape.

We only stayed in Livingston for one night before heading to Honduras. Leaving Livingston turned out to be an epic journey because we got the lancha to Puerto Barrio and then a taxi van to the Honduran border...at least we though we were getting a taxi van to the boarder. It turns out they stop 10k away and you have to walk the rest. We ended up getting a lift with two guys on motorcycles (complete with backpacks) to the border. From there we hopped in the back of Flash's (everyone here has a nickname) pickup truck for an hour journey to Cortes. We took a chicken bus to La Ceiba and decided to quit while ahead. We probably could have made the 16h30 ferry but enough was enough for one day. La Ceiba was an actually city and we weren't really used to that after hanging out in little towns. We decided to leg it to Utila first thing in the morning but not before caving in and having some western fast food.

We got the ferry to Utila and tried to sign up for SCUBA lessons. As I had asthma as a kid they won't let me start until I get an OK from 'Dr John'. It turns out that Dr John was in La Ceiba yesterday for a meeting and might be back today, might be back Monday. We're on Island time now...

In Utila they have a super market that had more than two isles...we are back in civilization!! I think we might chill out here for a bit until heading on to Nicaragua.

Dude, stop poking Becky. She's gonna have so many opportunities to poison you with weird South American potions ... an inexplicable demise for Hoser and none of us would be the wiser.

Travels sound amazing, by the way.

DarthGonzo is loving the fact that when he writes a comment he feels is not funny and chooses to delete it, a permanent reminder of this act remains, suggesting that the joke was not simply unfunny, but also extremely offensive. Which of course it was.

Happy trails people.
