Buenos Aires...too good to be true?

We´re still in Argentina and loving every minute of it!

We enjoyed
Mendoza very much. It´s from an area of Argentina that is very famous for it´s wines so of course we had to go on a full day wine tasting tour which included four wineries. Familia Cecchin, Weinert and Alta Vista (There was another winery as well but after that much wine I´ve no idea what it´s name was.). At Alta Vista we had the nicest white wine I´ve every tasted (albeit I´m more of a red man myself) Torrontés a variety I´d never heard of before. Yummy! It was a bit odd having a glass of wine at 10.30 in the morning but we soon stopped worrying about it after the 3rd glass in the first winery. We also stopped at a family that made their own artisan liquires (tastings as well!) and finally an olive oil factory. We were sad to say good bye to Mendoza but it was time to head to Buenos Aires.

We took another overnight bus and decided that we deserved the 'Royal Suite' class tickets this time as
Ejecutivo was such a winner the last time. We had our own headphones, televisions, dinner, whiskey, wine, champagne and the seats actually reclined 180 degrees! We arrived at B.A. rested and ready for the city despite the lady next to us snoring like a chainsaw.

This city is hot and I mean HOT! Around midnight it usually cools down enough walk around without suffering. We went to the main square to see the pink building where Evita gave her speeches and aimlessly wandered around being amazing by our return to 'modern' living.

We had recommendations to go a steak house called La Cabrera (thanks Claire!) and had THE best steak of our lives (granted it's been more than a while since I've last had a steak but Becky agrees with this). It was so good that we accidentally went every night we were in town. Our last night in B.A. we tried to fit in with the locals so went out to dinner after midnight and it was still packed!

By pure coincidence we meet some of our friends we'd been traveling in Peru/Bolivia with while we were walking down the street so got to spend some time with them. Also we meet our friends Javi and Pablo from London (well actually they are Basque and live in Berlin/London but anyways...) which was great. It was nice to see familiar faces and we traveled around the city together for two days before they flew back today. We went to the La Boca neighborhood and I of course bought a Boca Juniors soccer/football top and got pictures taken with Tango dancers. We wandered the streets of San Telmo which has a pretty impressive market.

Argentina has been very very different from the rest of Latin America and I´m very sad to be saying good bye to Buenos Aires as it is definitely a city that stays with you! I´m trying to convince Becky of all the benefits of moving here but I´m not sure I´m winning.

Next stop...Australia!
